In Chinese medicine, the free flow of Qi – the life energy – is important. Acupuncture tries to restore disturbances in the balance between yin (unconscious and soul) and yang (mind and consciousness).

Qi disturbance

If there is a disturbance of the Qi, this leads to diseases. In addition, the Qu affects internal organs (body Defence, muscle movement, digestion and respiration).

Energy pathways / meridians

There are 12 main meridians, which according to Chinese medicine are assigned to certain organs or functions. A certain amount of life energy (the Qi) flows continuously through these meridians. In classical body acupuncture, there are 361 acupuncture points on the body surface. The acupuncture needle irritates such a point and adds or removes energy. This causes the blocked Qi energy to flow again.

To this day, modern science has not been able to explain the effects of acupuncture in detail - but it has been proven that the body can be positively influenced by it. However, it has been discovered that acupuncture points have a significantly lower electrical resistance on the skin compared to the environment, skin depressions can be felt there and nerve bundles on the body surface are located at these points.

The doctor will start the therapy by placing you calmly and relaxed, i.e. the patients are usually at the acupuncture. When the puncture is a minimally unpleasant sensation is created, which usually disappears when the needle is lowered. Only when the needle is in its final place, a different strong, dull feeling should arise, which is coupled with the needle effect and is called "de Qi". After a few minutes, this feeling subsides, so that the patient without major sensations during a treatment period of approx. 20 minutes. As few needles as possible are always pricked, during a session a maximum of 10-20.

With correct application and observation of the anatomical conditions, acupuncture is practically free of side effects. In rare cases, a transient vegetative circulatory reaction may occur, which can be remedied by removing the needle. During pregnancy, some points that may be triggering lactrous must not be "pinned". In contrast, pregnancy vomiting and other pregnancy-related disorders are very well treatable by acupuncture.
